In part 4 of this article series of learning how to make money online with affiliate marketing, i want to talk more about how to find the right market and product to target. If you hit the wrong market with the wrong product, you will not make much money online, marketing as an affiliate.

First of all, i would like to mention that if you find something that does not have much competition then theres always a very good reason for that, because theres not much, if any money to be made. One thing i learned a long time back, is that if you find that theres lots of competition, thats due to the fact that theres money to be made. Dont be scared of the competition, as you will lose out big time, and if you focus all your efforts on one competitive market, you will see results in the end.

No matter how much competition there is, you can still out do marketers, if you have the dedication and are consistent. If you look at what your competitors are doing, you have an idea of what you can do to better them. Dont always follow the rest, as it may do you more harm than good. Think outside of the box and you will take the lead.

Moving on, i would like to explain a few ways in which you can find out if a market is worth targeting, and if the products related to the market are good enough to make sales. You can visit a few websites including amazon, clickbank, google trends and many more to understand whats hot, and whats not.

I mentioned in a previous article within the series of learning how to make money online with affiliate marketing where i explained that if you sort the listings within the clickbank marketplace by gravity, then you can see what other affiliates are having success with. This would tell you that other affiliates are promoting it, and is successful as the gravity is the term used to describe how many affiliates have made a sale within the last 30 days. I have seen products on clickbank with a gravity of over 1000, although usually they dont stay there for long, as this would be due to the product launch day.

You can view other areas of the internet to see what people are interested in such as amazon bestsellers. If you wish to promote amazon products as an affiliate then you should list the best sellers as you would be able to determine that you would certainly make a sale if you sent targeted traffic to a landing page that would list the best selling products. Google trends is also a great resources for checking out the lastest trends across the world, i have found many different products and markets that i would not usually think of, and have found success that way.

What you must be aware of is that even if you have a popular market, and a fantastic product, you still dont have any traffic, which is very important. Without a solid plan of how to drive targeted visitors to your affiliate offers, you will not make money online with affiliate marketing.
